We begin this quarter with The Catcher in the Rye. This J.D. Salinger is a favorite among many students here at the Prep. Later in the quarter, we will read Kate Chopin's The Awakening, a book which examines the internal struggle of a young wife and mother.

From our text we will continue reading various genres from many authors including: Emerson, Thoreau, Frederick Douglass, Richard Wright, T.S. Eliot and Robert Frost. Through this literature students will expand their knowledge of Transcendentalism and The Harlem Renaissance. Various themes will be examined in depth as we look at these great works of literature.

Our focus in writing will be the Research Paper

Of course extensive S.A.T. practice and Regents preparation will continue.
